Wing Chun: A Beginners Introduction

Wing Chun is a concept-based martial art and form of self-defense utilising both striking and grappling while specialising in close-range combat. It is widely known as the first martial art Bruce Lee studied before rising to Hollywood fame.

What will I learn?
During this 3 hour beginner's introduction you will be guided through and shown how to apply simple and effective techniques that stem from the underlying principles that Wing Chun encompasses:

  • Simplicity - fighting as simply as possible but not any simpler with maximum results

  • Directness - following the most direct path of attack to attack

  • Economy of Motion - moving as efficiently as possible

  • Economy of Energy - using only the energy needed

  • Relaxation - freely moving without the use of brute strength and tension

  • Simultaneous Attack and Defense - nullifying your assailants attack whilst delivering an attack of your own at the same time.

What can I expect to take away from this beginners introduction?
You will have a basic understanding on how to use Wing Chun to defend yourself from the most common kinds of attacks.

Is this suitable for females?
Absolutely. Legend has it that the system was created by a Buddhist nun. The system relies upon redirecting your assailants energy and using it against them, rather than using brute strength to overcome your aggressor.
